  3. Medical excellence: the participation of dentists from the Republic of Moldova at the OMF International Surgery Congress

 A delegation of experienced dentists from the Department of Oral-Maxillo-Facial Surgery and Oral Implantology "Arsenie Guțan" of USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" and the Department of Oral-Maxillo-Facial Surgery from IMSP Institute of Emergency Medicine had the honor of participate, as guests, in the 11th Congress of the Romanian Society of Oro-Maxillo-Facial Surgery and the first Congress of the Transylvanian Society of Orthognathic Surgery, held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania between June 13-15 2024.

Among the main topics addressed were strategies for the development of the specialty and current methods of diagnosis and treatment of patients with pathologies in the OMF region. Along with world-renowned speakers, in the field of oral-maxillo-facial surgery, from countries such as Germany, Romania, Spain, distinguished expert doctors from the Republic of Moldova shared their experience and knowledge. Moreover, an extremely valuable opportunity to be part of an event of such a high professional standard. 
 
Dumitru 𝐒îrụ, dr. est. med., conf. univ. at the Department of Oro-Maxillo-Facial Surgery and Oral Implantology "Arsenie Guțan" of USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu", head doctor at the "Omni Dent" Dental Clinic, gave a presentation on the topic "Currents in the surgical treatment of severe dento-maxillary anomalies in the Republic of Moldova".
 
Nicolae Chele, head of the Department of Oro-Maxillo-Facial Surgery and Oral Implantology "Arsenie Guțan" of USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" and chief physician at the Dental Clinic "Masterdent", presented details on the topic: "Incidence of pathologies of the oro-maxillo-facial territory in the Republic of Moldova".
 
On the third day of the congress, university lecturer Dumitru Sîrbu was one of the moderators in the first part of the day, while the closing session was moderated by a group of professionals in the field, including university professor Nicolae Chele.
 
The Head of the OMF Surgery Section within IMSP IMU, Mihai Cibotaru, together with the OMF surgeons Anatolie Caitaz, Grigorii Galbur, Maxim Gorea and Mihaela Dandara, enriched their knowledge and obtained a valuable and edifying experience, thanks to the presentations and discussions held on the new perspectives and the latest techniques and treatment strategies in oral-maxillofacial surgery by attending this valuable event. 
 
The unification of the OMF surgery specialty, reflected by the invitation to moderate the sessions alongside colleagues from Romania, demonstrated goodwill, collegiality and mutual respect. "I proudly represented our country and university, emphasizing the union of knowledge and the culture of medical thought. The academic and inter-university collaboration was aimed at adopting common treatment tactics, for the benefit of the entire Romanian society. In all three days of the congress, a complete harmony was felt between the thinking of surgeons, without geographical or professional barriers, a fact also emphasized by the mayor of Cluj, Emil Boc, present and his lordship with a speech in support of the Romanian medical community at the opening of the congress. This exemplary collaboration was cemented by fruitful cooperation, reaching the hearts of every doctor. It has been demonstrated that great goals can be achieved only through the unit, offering suffering patients specialized medical assistance at the highest level. Idea supported by the renowned personality of Romanian oro-maxillo-facial surgery, Professor Grigore Băciuț. 
 
Due to a high level of professionalism, illustrated by Professor Simion Bran, Professor Cristian Dinu, Professor Mihaela Băciuț, co-presidents of the congress, but also in the conferences held by specialists from all the oral-maxillo-facial surgery centers in Romania, there were no differences between the approaches and treatment methods of expert doctors from Romania and the Republic of Moldova. This synergy was essential for the success of the congress, reflecting a shared commitment to medical excellence", said Dumitru Sîrbu, oral-maxillo-facial surgeon.
 
In the hope of a new collaboration, the specialist doctors from the Republic of Moldova come with a message of sincere gratitude to the organizers for the excellent preparation of all the details and for the invitation. This event was an excellent platform to open new collaborations and strengthen bilateral relations in order to share experiences and knowledge with young people who want to embrace the noble profession of oral-maxillofacial surgeon.
